Job summary

Briggs & Stratton in Milwaukee, WI, is seeking a Software Engineer III to support its Electrification group. The role focuses on designing, planning, and overseeing software architectures for power systems and embedded controllers.

You will develop control algorithms, deploy to embedded controllers, write requirements and validation plans, and collaborate across departments to drive design decisions and maintain the software lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 3 years of experience developing control algorithms for mechanical or electrical systems.
• Experience with Subversion and Git for software management.
• Knowledge of control development and calibration tools (dSpace, Vector CANalyzer, ETAS INCA, ATI Vision).
• Familiarity with functional safety standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage control system software for integrated power systems.
• Deploy control algorithms to embedded controllers from project inputs.
• Create complex software requirements, specifications, and validation plans.
• Partner with other departments to drive business decisions.
• Develop engineering test standards.
• Act as liaison between departments as necessary.
• Develop complex system architectures across product lines that enable cohesive integration, component maintainability, and reuse.
• Maintain the software portfolio and software lifecycle.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
