Job summary

ICE (Inter-Coastal Electronics) in Mesa, AZ seeks an experienced hardware engineer to design high-reliability multi-layer PCBs for mission-critical systems. You will own the hardware lifecycle, translating complex requirements into robust hardware interfaces and CCAs.

Responsibilities include hands-on PCB design with ECAD tools, bringing up boards with embedded firmware, leading design reviews, and ensuring quality and ITAR-compliant solutions. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; alternative with associate degree plus 9+ years experience allowed.
• 6+ years in electrical/computer engineering delivering production-grade hardware.
• Hands-on PCB design mastery with professional ECAD tools (list above).
• Experience with UART, SPI, I2C and other digital comms (IrDA, USB, WiFi, RFID, TCP/IP, RS-485).
• Self-directed yet collaborative; strong organization and prioritization.
• Ability to obtain Security Clearance; ITAR compliance (U.S. Person).

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver CCAs and PCBs interfacing with mission-critical platforms.
• Own hardware lifecycle from architecture to deployment and sustainment.
• Translate stakeholder needs into precise hardware I/O requirements and document them.
• Bring up boards and install embedded software/firmware to verify functionality.
• Lead design reviews, evaluate approaches, and propose data-driven improvements.
• Create specs and test plans; produce formal reports for audits and reviews.
• Support programs with travel as needed.
