Job summary

ALSO is seeking an Embedded Validation & Tools Engineer - OTA to lead validation, automation, and readiness for firmware and software updates across our fleet of embedded devices. You will design and execute comprehensive OTA test programs, build scalable testbeds, and drive end-to-end automation for secure, reliable updates in real-world conditions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years validating embedded devices and firmware updates (OTA or similar).
• Strong programming/scripting ability in Python and familiarity with C/C++ for embedded debugging.
• Deep understanding of embedded platforms (embedded Linux and/or RTOS), bootloaders and A/B update models.
• Experience with CI pipelines and automation to support validation in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and execute OTA validation plans for device families and release types.
• Build, manage, and scale automated testbeds and harnesses for regression and stress tests.
• Implement end-to-end OTA pipeline automation from build to rollout and verification.
• Validate update mechanisms including bootloader, update agent, and A/B partitions.
• Test update resilience under intermittent networks, high latency, power faults, and storage constraints.
• Validate security properties: signing, TLS, secure boot, and key management.
• Define metrics and KPIs and produce release readiness reports.
• Root cause analysis on failed updates and remediation with cross-functional teams.
• Maintain device lab hardware and tooling stacks for OTA validation.
• Contribute to OTA process improvements and runbooks.
