Job summary

NIDEC Defense Group is seeking a Sr. Embedded Engineer to contribute to the design, development and support of motor controls and related accessories. You will participate in testing, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize product designs across global teams.

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, organized, and collaborative, with a strong interest in supporting a positive employee experience and working across the assignment life cycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in power electronics and motor control design.
• Proficient in C and assembly embedded programming.
• Experience with USB, SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, TCP/IP, A/D and discrete I/O.
• Experience with RTOS and embedded software development.
• Experience handling 480Vac level designs and lab/test equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and collaborative problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of motor control electronics through product life cycle.
• Design motor control electronics from low voltage DC to 480Vac industrial products.
• Participate in testing, reviews, and certification processes; create docs.
• Implement hardware/software feature requirements for OEMs.
• Create and maintain design requirements, BOMs, tests, and manuals.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to transfer designs to production.
• Coordinate with PCB designers on schematic and layout.
• Work with cross-functional teams to optimize cost and quality.
• Support failure analysis with the quality team.
