Job summary

CSG Talent is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to own the embedded Linux platform for a new custom compute subsystem. You will oversee architecture, BSP, Linux build and kernel configuration, drivers, security and hardware integration in a hands-on role.

You’ll work with hardware, electrical and test engineers across the product lifecycle, delivering end-to-end reliability, real-time performance, and robust software that scales with mission-critical environments.

Qualifications

• Approximately five or more years of embedded-software experience; depth and delivery matter more than tenure.
• Deep practical expertise in embedded Linux development for real hardware systems.
• Strong proficiency in C or C++ on low-level systems.
• Experience with embedded Linux platform architecture, BSPs, build systems and system bring-up.
• Practical kernel-configuration and Linux device-driver development experience.
• Experience designing deterministic or real-time software under tight latency and performance constraints.
• Experience bringing up new boards, reading schematics and debugging integrated hardware/software systems.
• Knowledge of concurrency, scheduling, interrupts, memory management and low-level peripherals.

Responsibilities

• Own the embedded Linux subsystem from requirements to production-ready implementation and support.
• Define platform architecture and develop BSPs for custom embedded compute hardware.
• Develop and maintain embedded Linux build, configuration and distribution systems.
• Configure bootloaders, perform system bring-up and implement low-level platform configuration.
• Configure the Linux kernel and develop device drivers for custom hardware and I/O.
• Implement secure-boot and platform-security mechanisms for high-reliability products.
• Integrate storage and high-speed interfaces with the software platform.
• Develop embedded networking and time-synchronisation functionality.
• Apply real-time Linux techniques: scheduler tuning, CPU isolation, latency analysis.
• Diagnose complex issues across concurrency, timing, memory, I/O, networking, hardware/software.
• Read schematics, review hardware interfaces, support new-board bring-up.
• Use lab tools to identify root causes; develop tests and CI improvements.
• Produce engineering documentation and mentor other engineers while remaining hands-on.
