Job summary

Combined Selection Group Ltd is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer (Embedded Linux) for an on-site role in Long Beach, California. You will own the platform software for a new custom-compute subsystem, covering architecture, BSPs, Linux build and bootloaders, kernel config and device drivers.

This hands-on role requires real-time Linux expertise, hardware bring-up, and collaboration with hardware and test engineers. US citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance are expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of embedded software experience preferred.
• Deep practical expertise in embedded Linux development on real hardware.
• Proficient in C or C++ at system level.
• Experience with BSPs, build systems and system bring-up.
• Kernel configuration and device-driver development experience.
• Real-time/low-latency software design under constraints.
• Board bring-up, schematics reading and hardware/software debugging.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own the embedded Linux subsystem from requirements to production support.
• Define platform architecture and develop BSPs for custom embedded compute hardware.
• Develop and maintain embedded Linux build, configuration and distribution systems.
• Configure bootloaders and complete system bring-up.
• Develop device drivers for hardware and peripherals.
• Implement secure-boot and platform-security mechanisms.
• Integrate storage and high-speed interfaces.
• Develop embedded networking and time synchronization.
• Apply real-time Linux techniques for scheduling and latency tuning.
• Diagnose complex hardware/software interactions.
• Produce engineering documentation and mentor other engineers.
