Job summary

Valmet is seeking a Lead Embedded Software Engineer to define platform direction and tackle complex embedded challenges for automation solutions. You will shape the long‑term evolution of embedded Linux platforms, mentor engineers, and drive architecture across hardware, firmware, software, and product teams.

You will lead Yocto-based development, kernel configuration, drivers, and real-time system behavior, delivering high‑performance, reliable platforms with lifecycle considerations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of embedded Linux development experience.
• Experience leading architecture and platform strategy across embedded Linux.
• Strong design and debugging skills for kernel modules and drivers.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and drive technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and architectural oversight for embedded Linux software across multiple product lines.
• Drive platform strategy across Yocto builds, kernel configuration, driver architecture, and real-time behavior.
• Lead development, debugging, and optimization of Linux kernel modules, drivers, and applications.
• Architect and guide real-time, performance-critical applications in C/C++.
• Mentor embedded engineers and align platform with hardware and product teams.
• Oversee BSP integration and validation of embedded platform components.
• Contribute to architecture documentation and engineering standards.
