Job summary

Serco Inc. seeks an Experienced Electrical Engineer for on-site work at NSWC PCD, Panama City, FL. The role involves leading mixed-signal hardware design, PCB layouts, and integration of microprocessors with C/C++. A TS/SCI clearance is required to support high-security defense projects.

The position entails rigorous testing, documentation, and collaboration with a diverse engineering team to ensure performance and reliability of unmanned systems for naval defense.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5 years of related experience.
• 3 years embedded hardware design and full product lifecycle development.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium Designer, Xpedition, or equivalent).
• Strong digital and analog circuit design knowledge.
• Experience with embedded communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, RS-232/485, CAN, Ethernet, USB).
• Hands-on with lab equipment for debugging and characterization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of mixed-signal hardware systems (microcontrollers, power management, sensor interfaces).
• Create detailed schematics and multi-layer PCB layouts using industry-standard EDA tools.
• Ensure adherence to signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC compliance.
• Implement microprocessors into designs using C/C++.
• Run simulations using LTspice, Pspice, or equivalent.
• Assemble, test, and bring-up hardware prototypes.
• Verify performance with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, loads, multimeters).
• Develop hardware test plans, thermal and reliability testing.
• Troubleshoot hardware issues down to components.
• Create and maintain engineering docs, BOMs, schematics, and end-user instructions.
