Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a Senior Software Engineer with GPU, graphics and low‑level embedded software experience for the Next Generation A2G Graphics Driver program. You will architect, implement and test Khronos-based graphics APIs (OpenGL SC, Vulkan SC) and GPU drivers within the VxWorks RTOS.

This role demands systems‑level thinking, hardware interaction and high‑reliability software for safety‑critical aerospace platforms.

Qualifications

• Typically requires STEM degree with 5+ years of experience or an advanced degree.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement graphics APIs (OpenGL SC, Vulkan SC) for embedded aerospace systems running VxWorks.
• Develop GPU drivers, command pipelines, memory management systems, and rendering flows.
• Write and optimize shaders for deterministic, real-time performance.
• Integrate GPU subsystems exclusively into the VxWorks RTOS environment.
• Perform hardware/software bring-up, debugging timing issues, startup sequencing, and synchronization problems.
• Support DO-178 certification processes, documentation, and traceability.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, and display teams to deliver integrated graphics capabilities.
• Communicate risks, progress, and technical decisions clearly to engineering leadership.
