Job summary

Rocket Lab Optical Systems in Tucson, AZ seeks a Senior Software Engineer II to design and implement flight software for spacecraft as part of the U.S. Space Development Agency program. You will tackle complex, performance-oriented software on size/weight/power constrained systems.

Required 8+ years in embedded software, multithreaded design experience, and the ability to obtain US government clearance. Familiarity with FPGA/CUDA, Python, and MATLAB is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering.
• 8+ years of embedded software engineering experience.
• Experience designing complex multithreaded applications.
• Experience designing flight software.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Play a key role supporting the development of payload flight software for Space Systems programs.
• Focus on deployment of novel algorithms into austere environments on constrained sensor systems.
• Participate in all aspects of software design and development from requirements to deployment.
• Drive core software fundamentals of performance-oriented programming leveraging accelerator tech.
• Be part of a team delivering impactful space missions.
