Job summary

Rocket Lab Optical Systems in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to design flight software for space-domain payloads as part of the SDA Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture.

You will develop payload flight software, deploy advanced algorithms in constrained environments, and contribute to performance-oriented, multi-threaded software across a team of scientists and engineers to enable next-generation space missions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of embedded software engineering experience.
• Experience designing complex multithreaded applications.
• Experience designing flight software.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Play a key role supporting the development of payload flight software for Space Systems programs.
• Focus on deployment of novel algorithms into austere environments on Size/Weight/Power constrained sensor systems.
• Participate in all aspects of software design and development from requirements generation through implementation, testing, deployment.
• Drive core software fundamentals of performance-oriented programming leveraging accelerator technologies.
• Be part of a team delivering high-impact space missions and solving challenging problems.
