Job summary

Hermeus is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Electrical Engineer to own power architectures for next-generation hypersonic aircraft. You will lead end-to-end hardware development, collaborate across mechanical and electrical teams, and mentor junior engineers in a fast-paced prototyping environment.

You will design and integrate power systems, driver circuits, and COTS/custom components while ensuring EMI compliance and safety across high‑voltage DC platforms.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace with significant development experience.
• 5+ years in battery design, motor controller, high EMI, power conditioning and related areas.
• Experience with high voltage DC systems and aerospace practices.
• Ability to mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards.
• Hands-on hardware design, testing, and integration with cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with avionics protos, CAN/ARINC and connectors.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical power architecture for vehicle development from concept to testing.
• Design power electronics systems for supersonic/hypersonic aircrafts.
• Collaborate with mechanical/electrical teams to architect integrated power systems.
• Support electrical, fluid, and mechanical power to critical components.
• Bridge electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines as a technical liaison.
• Design flight hardware and ground support/test equipment.
• Evaluate and integrate COTS and custom hardware solutions.
• Coordinate with vendors to source suitable components.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish standards/tools.
• Participate in rapid prototyping, testing, and build/test cycles.
• Contribute to propulsion/power advances for next-gen hypersonic transport.
