Job summary

Astronics is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer in Kirkland, WA for hardware/software integration on production aircraft power systems. You will work on embedded software interfacing with power electronics, validating on real hardware in lab and field support.

Expect strong collaboration with Product Support, Electrical, Systems, and Test Engineering. Requires DO-178C familiarity and hands‑on HW/SW experience in resource‑constrained environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
• 5 years of hands-on embedded software for resource‑constrained systems.
• Experience hardware/software integration on target hardware.
• Proficiency in C and/or C++, with Python for testing is a plus.
• Knowledge of RTCA DO-178C and software configuration management.
• Familiarity with UART, RS-485, ARINC 429.
• Embedded Linux experience and device trees desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and maintain embedded software for production aircraft power systems.
• Integrate and test software on actual hardware; bring-up boards and diagnostics.
• Investigate and resolve field and production issues across HW/SW.
• Review and update software requirements, architecture, and test plans.
• Provide SME guidance across multiple products.
• Support peer reviews with cross-functional teams.
• Ensure DO-178C processes compliance.
