Job summary

Intuitive Surgical is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer in San Francisco to lead embedded architecture, motor control, and high-speed compute PCAs for robotic systems. You will drive design, verification, and integration across hardware/software teams to deliver next-generation capabilities.

You will ensure manufacturability, write detailed specifications and tests, and iterate rapidly in a collaborative startup-like environment within a mature clinical robotics company.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required.
• 12+ years in embedded system design with PCB focus.
• Experience with high-speed electronic design and verification.

Responsibilities

• Design, bring-up, and integration of custom PCAs.
• Architect communication, processing, and distribution of subsystems.
• Collaborate on system design with FPGA, mechanical, software, and controls teams.
• Implement actuation components for robotic systems and motor control.
• Develop V&V protocols and design documentation per guidelines.
• Follow design control methodologies from spec to manufacturing.
