Job summary

Serco is seeking an Experienced Electrical Engineer to join the NSWC PCD program onsite in Panama City, Florida. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to support unmanned systems for naval applications, leading mixed-signal hardware design and bringing prototypes from concept through bring-up.

The role requires strong C/C++ software integration, detailed PCB/layout work, and adherence to EMI/EMC and signal integrity standards, with travel up to 10% and active clearance considerations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required.
• 5 years of related experience in embedded hardware design and full product lifecycle development.
• Masters degree will be considered in lieu of 2 years of experience.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium Designer, Xpedition, OrCAD/Allegro, KiCad).
• Strong knowledge of digital and analog circuit design.
• Experience with embedded communication protocols: I2C, SPI, UART, RS-232/485, CAN, Ethernet, USB.
• Hands-on with lab equipment (power supplies, electronic loads, multimeters, oscilloscopes).
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of mixed-signal hardware systems including microcontrollers (Arduino, ATmega, PIC, ESP32).
• Create detailed schematics and multi-layer PCB layouts using industry-standard EDA tools.
• Ensure adherence to signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC compliance.
• Implement microprocessors into designs using C/C++.
• Run test simulations using LTspice or Pspice.
• Assemble, test, and bring-up hardware prototypes.
• Utilize lab equipment to verify system performance against specs.
• Develop hardware test plans, thermal testing, and reliability testing.
• Troubleshoot hardware issues to component level.
• Create engineering documentation including BOMs, schematics, and end-user instructions.
