EPAM Systems in the United States seeks an experienced engineer to translate feature requirements into MATLAB/Simulink control models and to develop/update control logic for power and grid applications. You will define interfaces, run simulations, and support SIL/HIL validation while collaborating with embedded developers to ensure integration readiness.
Responsibilities include reviewing design decisions, maintaining model quality, and documenting changes for release.
Translate feature requirements and control behavior into clear, maintainable MATLAB/Simulink models Participate in requirements clarification and design reviews to make control behavior, assumptions, and acceptance criteria testable Develop and update control logic for functions such as active and reactive power control, voltage or frequency response, dispatch, and plant-level coordination according to the assigned backlog Define and maintain model inputs, outputs, parameter buses, feedback signals, and interfaces with other PPC components Build or adapt closed-loop simulation scenarios using appropriate plant, grid, and equipment models, and investigate dynamic response and unexpected results Run model checks and automated or interactive simulations, and support software-in-the-loop or hardware-in-the-loop validation where the project environment provides it Collaborate with PPC C++ developers to review implementation assumptions, investigate model-to-software differences, and support integration of control changes Contribute to failure-mode analysis, verification, validation, and technical documentation, and maintain model quality and consistency with the team's modeling guidelines Support regression testing and provide clear model changes and evidence for software integration and release
5+ years of practical delivery experience developing control or embedded-function models in MATLAB/Simulink Strong foundation in control systems and dynamic-system behavior, including the ability to interpret transient and steady-state simulation results Experience structuring model interfaces, parameters, signals, and reusable components Capability to debug models, document design decisions, and work from defined requirements and acceptance criteria Working knowledge of C++ sufficient to read or discuss implementation code, investigate integration issues, and collaborate effectively with embedded developers Experience using source control and participating in an engineering review and test workflow English proficiency at B2 level or higher
Background in PPC, power-generation, industrial automation, inverter, or energy-storage embedded-control product development Experience with active/reactive power, voltage/frequency control, grid-support functions, or multi-asset plant coordination Familiarity with Stateflow, model-based design practices, model testing, or automatic code-generation workflows Experience with closed-loop, software-in-the-loop, or hardware-in-the-loop validation, and deployment to real-time controller targets Experience integrating control models with C/C++ software, PLCs, or real-time controller hardware Experience with requirements traceability, DFMEA, or system-level verification and validation
