Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, MD, seeks a Senior Embedded Systems Developer to tackle national-security challenges by building hardware-software solutions for constrained systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • 6+ years of embedded hardware/software development experience.
  • Experience with FPGAs, SoCs, RTOS, microcontrollers, or weapon systems assemblies.
  • Proficient with Vivado/Vitis or similar toolchains.
  • Proficient in VHDL/Verilog, C/C++/Rust.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a core team member on cybersecurity projects protecting mission systems.
  • Lead small to medium multidisciplinary technical teams or projects.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance in technical areas and professional development.
  • Develop firmware/HDL for embedded cyber solutions.
  • Expand and enhance simulation and emulation environments for laboratory experimentation.
  • Lead hands-on experimentation and provide recommendations and technical insights.
  • Provide hardware expertise across sponsor projects and internal research initiatives.
  • Integrate system components with test, measurement, and analysis equipment to advance cybersecurity research and development.
