Job summary

Rheem seeks a Sr. Systems Engineer (Controls) to lead the development and deployment of control architectures for its Water Heating and HVAC solutions.

Based in Montgomery, AL (onsite), you will drive architecture, verification, and cross-functional collaboration across software, hardware, and product teams. You will define system requirements, lead verification activities, and support manufacturing and product design reviews to ensure hardware/software requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 7+ years in embedded controls development or testing.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams on embedded controller projects.
• Familiarity with Safety standards (IEC 61508, ISO26262) or related agency requirements.
• Strong systems requirements, traceability, and verification planning experience.
• Ability to read and interpret schematic, electrical, and mechanical diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design of controller software and hardware interfaces.
• Manage electronic control system development and verification activities.
• Oversee reviews and ensure closure of action items before design releases.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, test, and product teams across the lifecycle.
• Define and document controller system requirements and verification plans.
• Support manufacturing with test procedures and control documentation.
• Provide design reviews and ensure products meet hardware/software requirements.
