Job summary

Alarm.com is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to design and implement software for our camera platforms. You will work on embedded Linux, firmware, and hardware abstraction layers, collaborating with hardware and cloud teams to optimize power, performance, and reliability.

You will participate in design reviews, write tests, and help bring up boards while supporting production and field teams. The role emphasizes quality, security, and scalable device-to-cloud connectivity.

Qualifications

• Experience with Embedded Linux platforms.
• Proficient in C++ with low-level programming.
• Familiar with RTOS such as FreeRTOS or ThreadX.
• Experience with hardware interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet).
• Knowledge of build systems and firmware update mechanisms.
• Understanding of Bluetooth, BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa and security.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test embedded software for camera platforms.
• Develop firmware and HALs to interface with sensors and peripherals.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on board bring-up and integration.
• Optimize software for performance, reliability, and resource use.
• Create unit and integration tests and participate in design reviews.
