Job summary

Alarm.com is seeking an experienced Embedded Linux Engineer to develop BSPs, platform frameworks, and Linux-based applications in C/C++. You’ll collaborate with hardware and software teams to bring up devices and ensure cloud-connected features meet high standards.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of Linux embedded experience,熟悉 cross-compilation tools like Yocto/OpenWRT/Buildroot, and strong debugging with JTAG/SWD and logic analyzers. Office-based collaboration is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/EE.
  • 4+ years of embedded software on Linux platforms.
  • Experience with BSPs, Linux kernel/drivers, hardware bring-up.
  • C/C++ coding with scalable software design.
  • Familiar with UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, etc.
  • Experience with cross-compilation and Yocto/Buildroot/OpenWRT/Android.
  • Reading schematics and electronics basics.
  • Debugging tools: JTAG, SWD, scopes, logic analyzers.
  • Git or similar version control experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop board support packages, platform frameworks, and embedded Linux apps in C/C++.
  • Collaborate with Electrical/Mechanical teams to design embedded devices.
  • Co-develop features interacting with cloud with software teams.
  • Work with Product and QA to meet Alarm.com standards.
  • Communicate effectively to ensure timely project delivery.

Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with other Engineers to develop board support packages, platform frameworks, and embedded Linux applications using C/C++.
  • Work with Electrical and Mechanical engineers to design and manufacture embedded Linux devices.
  • Work with Software Engineers to design and implement features that interact with the cloud.
  • Work with Product Managers and quality engineers to ensure the products meet Alarm.com 's standards.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with others to ensure the timely delivery of projects.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience with embedded software development with Linux platforms.
  • Experience with board support packages, Linux kernel and drivers, and hardware bring-up.
  • Experience with C/C++ coding following scalable and efficient software architecture and design principles.
  • Familiarity with hardware peripherals such as UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, etc.
  • Experience with cross-compilation and development frameworks in platforms and environments such as Yocto, buildroot, OpenWRT, or Android.
  • Understanding of electronics and ability to read circuit schematics.
  • Experience with debugging tools such as JTAG, SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Knowledge of version control systems such as Git.
