Qualifications

• 12-15+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years focused on embedded systems, device software, or mobile platform engineering.
• Deep Android platform development expertise—AOSP customization, system apps, HAL, and platform security (dm-verity, SELinux policies, Verified Boot).
• Strong knowledge of MDM/EMM platforms at scale (e.g., Android Enterprise, Workspace ONE, Canonical Landscape, or similar).
• Experience architecting embedded telemetry systems with protocol choices (MQTT, CoAP, HTTPS), edge buffering, and cloud ingestion integration.
• Proficiency with embedded Linux, kernel modules, device trees, and low-level hardware bring-up concepts.
• Ability to produce clear architecture documentation and influence engineering decisions across teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the reference architecture for device endpoints across brands, ensuring consistency, security, and scalability.
• Lead architectural design of the Android-based device platform including HAL customizations, system services, IPC patterns, and security hardening.
• Establish firmware and embedded software architecture standards: bootloader configuration, recovery partitions, secure enclave usage, and HALs.
• Design the OTA update framework from scratch or evaluate open-source solutions to meet reliability and scale requirements.
• Architect device telemetry systems balancing data richness with network constraints and enterprise data pipelines.
