Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is actively seeking a Senior Elevator Maintenance Mechanic to join our Elevator Shop. The role focuses on expert inspection, maintenance and repair of elevator systems across on-campus and off-campus university buildings, with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualified candidates will have a High School diploma or equivalent, 6 years of elevator maintenance experience, and a valid Driver's License. Preferred certifications include CET, IUEC, or QEI.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of elevator systems including mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.
• Advanced diagnostic skills using specialized tools to troubleshoot complex elevator issues.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with clients, team members and stakeholders.
• Leadership and mentoring capabilities to guide junior technicians.
• Problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve complex elevator-related problems.
• Thorough understanding of safety codes, regulations, and building codes for elevators and escalators.
• Physical stamina for lifting, climbing and working in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Conduct periodic elevator inspections as scheduled by preventive maintenance programs.
• Clean, lubricate and adjust relays, door operators and elevator pits as needed.
• Inspect hoist and governor cables and maintain control rooms and safety devices.
• Respond to trouble calls and perform repairs.
• Order tools, parts, and equipment; maintain inventory.
• Review plans for new elevators and contribute to specifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
