Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking an Elevator Technician to inspect, maintain and repair elevators, escalators and related equipment in university-owned buildings on a campus-wide basis.

Under general supervision, you will respond to service calls, document maintenance activities, and assist in parts replacement and procurement. A high school diploma or GED and a Texas driver’s license are required, with education in lieu of experience considered. Security checks may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Minimum of one year of directly job-related experience
  • Education in lieu of experience allowed
  • Technical certification or licensing related to the job preferred
  • All University positions are security sensitive and require a criminal history check

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and performs scheduled preventative maintenance in elevators, escalators, lifts, and related components
  • Responds to call-back/trouble calls and restores equipment to safe operating condition
  • Operates elevator trade tools and equipment such as voltammeter, amp probe, Meggers, tachometer, rotation meter, soldering irons and related devices
  • Provides supervisor with repair, inspection test and preventative maintenance reports
  • Assists supervisor in ordering of supplies and replacement of parts
  • Maintains equipment machine rooms, pits and car tops in safe condition; may perform cleaning and painting duties
  • May be assigned to special task force during emergencies (floods, storms, hurricanes)
