Job summary

Amtec Staffing seeks a Sr. R&D Electrical Engineer in San Diego to lead and contribute to advanced thermal measurement systems used in PCB manufacturing. This role spans architecture through PCB design, embedded hardware, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting in a small, collaborative team.

You will own hardware design from concept to production, develop schematics and PCB layouts, and integrate with firmware while ensuring safety and standards compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10–15 years of field experience in R&D/electronics.
• Schematic capture and PCB design experience.
• A/D and D/A conversion experience.
• Hardware prototyping, testing, debugging and design verification.
• Embedded systems experience (microcontrollers).
• Familiarity with FPGA logic design is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop electronic systems from concept through production.
• Design schematics, PCBAs and analog/digital circuitry.
• Collaborate with firmware/software to ensure hardware and embedded systems operate as an integrated product.
• Troubleshoot hardware at board and system level using test equipment.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes and regulations.
• Review project documentation for accuracy and compliance.
