Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks an Electronics Design Engineer to craft secure communications hardware for COMSEC systems. You will collaborate with Cybersecurity, Software, and FPGA teams across the full hardware lifecycle, performing hands-on fabrication and testing for rapid prototyping.

Design for space radiation, select components to meet mission needs, and lead hardware verification plans. You will mentor junior engineers and ensure compliance with security standards while supporting spacecraft

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical hardware design.
  • Understanding of circuit analyses (Worst Case, Derating, Power, Timing).
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design tools.
  • Experience designing high-speed digital systems.
  • Strong understanding of space radiation effects on electronics.
  • Experience with FPGA-based designs and software interfacing.

In this role, you will play a critical part in designing and developing secure communication hardware systems that support our mission of making space accessible for the benefit of humanity. You will work in close collaboration withCybersecurity, Software, and FPGA Engineersto deliver robust, mission‑critical hardware solutions in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the design, development, and verification of electrical hardware for secure communications (COMSEC) systems

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical hardware design
  • Understanding of common circuit analyses (Worst Case Circuit Analysis, Derating, Power Analysis, Timing, etc.).
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design tools.
  • Experience designing high speed digital systems
  • Strong understanding of designing for the space radiation environment and its effects on electronic components.
  • Experience working with FPGA‑based designs and interfacing with software teams.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross‑disciplinary engineering environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ActiveTop Secret security clearance(strongly preferred)
  • Master's degree in a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with COMSEC or cryptographic hardware design.
  • Familiarity with TEMPEST, NSA, or NIST security standards.
  • Hands‑on experience supporting FIPS 140-2 or FIPS 140-3 hardware certification.
  • Working knowledge of designing systems to meet MIL-STD-461 and SMC-S-016.
  • Experience designing hardware for secure or classified communication systems.
  • Experience supporting space, defense, or aerospace programs.
  • Knowledge of hardware security modules (HSMs) or secure key management systems.

Base Pay Range for: CO applicants is $144,179.00 - $201,849.90
