Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• 6+ years in designing or optimizing electron beam systems.
• Deep expertise in electron optics and system design.
• Experience with MEBS (Munro Electron Beam Software) or similar tools.
• Experience with electron beam column architecture and system-level design.
• Magnetic lens design and magnetic-field modeling expertise.
• Monte Carlo simulations to improve beam performance.
• Strong systems engineering mindset linking subsystems to overall performance.
• Hands-on troubleshooting of complex electron beam systems.
• Ability to lead technical projects with minimal direction.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, analysis, and optimization of electron beam columns and electron-optical subsystems.
• Develop and refine electron optics architectures for advanced inspection and metrology systems.
• Perform detailed electron-optics simulations to evaluate system performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Model and analyze magnetic lens systems, magnetic fields, and charged particle trajectories.
• Utilize MEBS, OPERA, and Monte Carlo modeling to predict and optimize behavior.
• Perform magnetic field modeling to improve beam quality, resolution, throughput, and overall performance.
• Drive system-level investigations by hardware observation, evaluation, and diagnosis.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, controls, and physics teams to develop integrated solutions.
• Independently lead complex projects from concept through implementation and validation.
• Identify performance limitations and develop innovative solutions for manufacturability.
• Communicate results and recommendations to cross-functional teams and leadership.
