Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Salt Lake City, UT seeks a Principal Electromechanical Engineer to develop and implement manufacturing methods for mechanical gyroscopes, applying Lean techniques and cross‑functional collaboration.

You will lead RCCA, train technicians, interpret drawings with GD&T, and work with suppliers to ensure quality and conformance to specifications.

This role requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 5 years of relevant work experience, Master’s with 3 years, or PhD with 1 year.
• Experience working in a manufacturing facility.
• Knowledge and experience using Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
• Experience presenting data to management.
• Experience interpreting mechanical drawings with GD&T knowledge.
• US Citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements manufacturing methods, processes, and assembly instructions for mechanical gyroscopes.
• Implement Lean manufacturing techniques applicable to SPC across manufacturing environments.
• Collaborate with production floor personnel and other engineering disciplines to support daily activities.
• Train technicians and operators on manufacturing techniques and procedures.
• Lead root cause analysis (RCCA) and implement corrective actions on process failures.
• Analyze manufacturing yields and trends to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Interpret engineering drawings and recommend design changes for manufacturability.
• Provide recommendations and justifications for tooling and equipment.
• Work with suppliers to ensure quality and conformance to specifications.
