Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Electromechanical Engineer for our Salt Lake City, UT facility. You will join the NGMS Operations Instruments Engineering team to develop manufacturing methods for gyroscopes, drive Lean improvements, and lead root-cause analysis to ensure high-yield production.

The role requires collaboration across production, engineering, and suppliers, interpreting drawings with GD&T, and training shop personnel on new processes while maintaining DoD security standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 5+ years of relevant experience (or Master’s with 3+ years or PhD with 1+ year).
• Experience in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean principles.
• Ability to present data, conclusions, and recommendations to management.
• GD&T knowledge and ability to interpret mechanical drawings.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements manufacturing methods, processes, and assembly instructions for mechanical gyroscopes.
• Implements Lean manufacturing techniques across environments and supports SPC.
• Collaborates with production floor staff and other engineering disciplines on day-to-day activities.
• Trains technicians and operators on manufacturing techniques.
• Leads root cause analysis and implements corrective actions on process failures.
• Analyzes yields and trends to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Interprets drawings and recommends design changes for manufacturability.
• Recommends tooling and equipment and works with suppliers to ensure conformance to specs.
