Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) seeks a Principal or SR Principal Manufacturing Engineer in Salt Lake City, Utah. You will support manufacturing of precision inertial measurement and navigation systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and manufacturability.

The role requires strong experience in manufacturing engineering, process troubleshooting, and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, with a path to leadership and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree with 5 years of experience; Masters with 3 years; PhD with 1 year.
• Experience in an engineering environment supporting manufacturing processes.
• Experience troubleshooting production issues related to process, equipment, or materials.
• Experience reading engineering drawings, specifications, and parts lists.
• Experience using an MRP/ERP/MES system.
• Experience in root-cause/corrective action implementation.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS-Project).
• US Citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance.

Responsibilities

• Interact with production operators to understand manufacturing issues and propose improvements.
• Create process flow diagrams and define operation sequences for build instructions.
• Lead investigations of production issues to determine root causes and coordinate cross-functional actions.
• Evaluate new system designs for manufacturability and influence design decisions.
• Evaluate process capabilities and drive continuous improvement projects.
• Develop and improve manufacturing processes considering cost/benefit analysis.
• Use statistical process control and data-driven methods to guide improvements.
