Job summary

HII Mission Technologies, in Crane, IN, seeks an experienced Electro-Optics Engineer to provide advanced RDT&E support for EO/IR systems across maritime, expeditionary, and airborne domains.

The ideal candidate will lead investigations into enabling EO/IR technologies, perform tests of lasers and visual augmentation systems, and collaborate with government engineers to advance mission capabilities while ensuring reliability and lifecycle management.

Qualifications

• 9 years relevant experience with Bachelor's in related field; 7 years with Master's; 4 years with PhD/JD; or 13 years with HS + experience.
• Experience with electro‑optical, infrared, or laser-based systems.
• Knowledge of optical sensors, imaging systems, detectors, and optical components.
• Experience with data analysis tools and engineering software.
• Ability to work on-site at NSWC Crane.
• Active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform RDT&E activities for EO/IR systems across full lifecycle.
• Identify enabling EO/IR technologies for warfighting needs.
• Test lasers and visual augmentation systems; assess sensors and weapon sights.
• Analyze performance data using modeling, simulation, and assessments.
• Develop recommendations to enhance EO/IR capabilities and reliability.
• Support integration and technology transition into existing platforms.
• Contribute to sustainment planning and lifecycle management.
