Job summary

The City of Durham is hiring an experienced electrician responsible for preventive and general maintenance of electrical, HVAC, safety, and utility systems. You will diagnose issues, provide technical support, and mentor staff while coordinating with city departments to ensure timely repairs and compliance.

The role requires five years of related trades experience, a valid NC driver's license or ability to obtain one within 60 days, and may involve coordinating emergency repairs and projects

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC).
• One year of additional technical training.
• Five years of related trades experience.
• Valid, unrestricted North Carolina driver's license or ability to obtain NC license within 60 days of hire.
• Color vision required for certain positions.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and general maintenance on electrical, HVAC, safety, utility, and related systems and devices.
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots issues; serves as escalation point for complex problems; ensures safety/compliance.
