Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking an Electrician III for the State Hospital - Maximum Security Unit (MSU) in Harlingen, TX. The role involves advanced maintenance of electrical systems, coordinating repairs, and leading a team within the Plant Maintenance department at Rio Grande State Center.

Responsibilities include planning long-range electrical maintenance, training staff, and ensuring safe, code-compliant work.

Qualifications

• Twenty-four (24) months of experience in operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment or vocational training.
• Forty-eight (48) months experience in an electrical trade.
• Preferred: bilingual in English and Spanish

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate electrical maintenance or repair projects.
• Train staff and oversee work of others in the maintenance department.
• Inspect, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment.
• Prepare and manage work orders, materials, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards.
• Respond to emergencies and perform preventive maintenance tasks.
• Collaborate with supervisors to schedule repairs and assign staff.
