Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated in Iron Mountain, MI is seeking an Electrical Testing Specialist III to ensure quality and compliance of electrical power systems in a laboratory or field setting. You will perform functional testing on electrical panels, interpret schematics, set up tests and document results.

You will mentor Level I and II engineers, develop standard procedures, and uphold safety protocols while collaborating with customers and production teams to meet performance and reliability goals.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; electrical power certification or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in testing electrical equipment.
• Applicable NFPA and OSHA safety certifications.
• Advanced understanding of 3-phase power principles and relaying equipment.
• Expertise in relay test software and ability to program microprocessor-based relaying equipment.
• Strong analytical and documentation skills for test procedures.
• Excellent troubleshooting, written and verbal communication, and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform functional testing and final acceptance testing on electrical panels and related equipment by interpreting schematics and customer standards.
• Use testing equipment and power supplies to inject voltages/currents and ensure safe operation.
• Collaborate with customers in plant and on site to develop testing processes that meet requirements.
• Install customer-provided relay settings and upgrade relay firmware as needed.
• Assist engineering in correcting wiring diagrams/schematics to meet design requirements.
• Guide production to safely apply power to electrical equipment.
• Ensure processes and documentation meet quality procedures and customer requirements.
• Mentor Level I/II Electrical Testing Engineers and ensure safe practices.
• Develop and maintain standard work procedures for new equipment and customer requirements.
