Job summary

Rehlko in Kohler, WI is seeking a Senior Electrical Test Engineer Switchgear to lead FAT processes, ensuring quality and performance of low- and medium‑voltage assemblies before shipment. You will develop test plans, perform electrical and functional tests, review schematics and BOMs, and drive corrective actions with engineering and production.

A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and 4+ years of hands‑on testing with meters, insulation testers, relay sets, and motor/generator

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum 4 years of electrical testing in power systems or switchgear environments.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Proven experience with testing instruments such as multimeters, insulation testers, relay test sets, and motor/generator test equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead FAT processes for low and medium-voltage switchgear before shipment.
  • Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and checklists from drawings and specs.
  • Perform electrical and functional tests, including continuity and control circuit verification.
  • Identify and troubleshoot defects; drive corrective actions with engineering and production.
  • Review schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and layout drawings for accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with UL, IBC, ANSI, IEEE, IEC, and NETA standards.
  • Prepare test reports, inspection records, and quality documentation.
  • Support production questions during build and FAT engagements.
  • Calibrate and maintain test equipment; ensure proper usage.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and special projects.

The Senior Electrical Test Engineer Switchgear plays a vital role in ensuring the quality, safety, and performance of electrical switchgear systems before they reach customers. This position is responsible for leading rigorous factory acceptance testing (FAT) processes, validating that all low and medium-voltage assemblies meet design specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements. The Senior Electrical Test Engineer Switchgear will be combining deep technical expertise with hands-on testing and problem-solving skills, the Senior Electrical Test Engineer Switchgear partners closely with engineering, production, and customers to deliver reliable, compliant, and high-performing power distribution solutions.

Work Mode: onsite Monday-Friday. Location: 200 Twin Oaks Road, Kohler, WI 53044.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct factory acceptance testing (FAT) on low and medium-voltage switchgear assemblies prior to shipment.
  • Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and checklists based on engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Perform electrical and functional testing, including continuity, control circuit verification.
  • Identify, document, and troubleshoot defects or non-conformances; work with engineering and production teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Review schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and layout drawings to verify accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards such as UL, IBC, ANSI, IEEE, IEC, and NETA.
  • Prepare detailed test reports, inspection records, and quality documentation for internal use and customer review.
  • Support production team by addressing technical questions during the build process.
  • Support customer witness esting and address technical questions during FAT.
  • Calibrate and maintain test equipment and ensure proper usage.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and testing efficiency.
  • Work on special projects as dictated by the needs of the department.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred 4+ years of experience in electrical testing in power systems, or switchgear manufacturing environments.
  • Minimum of 4 years of electrical troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with being able to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands‑on experience with testing instruments such as multimeters, insulation testers, relay test sets, and motor/generator test equipment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles, power distribution systems, and protection schemes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The Salary range for this position is $89,800.00-$114,100.00. The specific Salary rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
