Job summary

Superior Skilled Trades is seeking a Testing Engineer III to lead electrical testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting for industrial power systems. You will work hands-on in the field, independently manage testing activities, and mentor junior technicians.

You will test breakers, relays, transformers, and switchgear; develop transformer test files with DTA; create relay test plans; and ensure NETA standards are met while communicating findings to customers.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years in electrical testing, commissioning, or field service.
• Strong knowledge of protective relays and electrical protection systems.
• Experience developing relay test plans and transformer testing.
• Experience with DTA and PowerDB tooling.
• Ability to lead testing and commissioning projects independently.

Responsibilities

• Lead testing and commissioning of breakers, relays, transformers, switchgear, and control systems.
• Develop transformer test files using DTA software.
• Create and execute relay test plans based on protection schemes and project requirements.
• Analyze relay operations and troubleshoot protection systems.
• Interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, and relay settings.
• Lead field testing activities and coordinate schedules.
• Document test results, deficiencies, and customer updates.
• Mentor junior testing engineers and apprentices.
• Ensure testing meets NETA standards and customer specs.
