Job summary

SpaceX in Texas is seeking a Principal Electrical Hardware Engineer for the AI Satellites (Starmind) program. You will own the hardware life-cycle for high-performance, space-grade electronics, from flight computers to memory and networking, enabling on-orbit AI processing.

The role requires 10+ years of circuit and hardware design experience, strong cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to work under ITAR constraints to deliver reliable, power-efficient systems for orbital workloads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or physics.
• 10+ years of industry experience in circuit/hardware design.
• U.S. citizen or eligible for ITAR compliance.

Responsibilities

• Rapidly develop high-reliability electronics for satellites and spacecraft.
• Drive system trades and requirements capture.
• Select components and perform analysis.
• Schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Prototype, hardware bring-up, and debugging.
• Documentation, manufacturing, and testing.
• PCB stackup and routing studies.
• Library creation and maintenance.
• Documentation for PCB fabrication.
• Collaborate with PCB vendors to improve design rules and test guidelines.
• Work with adjacent disciplines to deliver integrated hardware.
• Challenge assumptions and learn from mistakes.
