Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. in Westminster, CO seeks a Senior Electrical Studies Engineer to lead electrical system studies for utility-scale wind, solar, and battery storage projects.

You will develop detailed models, perform short circuit, load flow, harmonics, grounding and protection analyses, and deliver reports within project schedules while coordinating with design teams and clients. Mentoring junior engineers is also part of the role.

Qualifications

• Approximately 5–10 years of experience in electrical plant design and system studies.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Systems, or a related field with a power systems focus.
• Experience with utility-scale renewable energy projects (wind, solar, battery storage) and grid integration.
• Working knowledge of short circuit, load flow, reactive power, and related studies.
• Proficiency with common electrical engineering modeling software (DIgSILENT PowerFactory preferred).
• Detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills and team collaboration ability.
• Preference for Master’s Degree and Python/VBA proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Work with lead design engineers and clients to develop electrical models and studies to support the project design process.
• Develop detailed system models and perform studies including short circuit, load flow, harmonics, insulation coordination, arc flash, grounding, and transient studies.
• Produce written reports conveying study results within the project schedule.
• Coordinate with internal project leads, project managers, and external clients and engineers.
• Mentor and train junior studies engineers and review others' work for quality before client submission.
