Job summary

Westwood-Professional-Services in Plano, TX is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to lead design and studies for utility-scale renewable plants, including wind, solar, and storage projects.

You will build detailed system models, run power flow, short circuit, and protection studies, and collaborate with clients and internal leads. PE licensed engineers with 7+ years in power engineering are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent.
• 7 years of professional engineering experience in electrical plant design and studies.
• 5 years in utility-scale renewable power plant design and modeling.
• Experience with power systems analysis: load flow, short circuit, grounding, and harmonics.
• Proficiency with modeling tools: DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, PSCAD, ASPEN, CAPE, CYMCAP; PSSE/PSLF.
• Programming in C/C++/Python for automation.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize utility-scale renewable plants (wind, solar, storage).
• Develop electrical models and studies to support the project design process.
• Perform short circuit, load flow, harmonics, insulation coordination, and protection studies.
• Produce written reports conveying study results within the project schedule.
• Mentor and guide junior studies engineers; coordinate with clients and project leads.
