Helion Group in Apple Grove, West Virginia, seeks a senior electrical leader to bring a brand-new steel mill from construction through commissioning into steady-state operations. You will blend power, controls, and automation expertise to lead the startup and mentor engineers.

This role requires 10+ years in heavy industry, deep knowledge of high/low voltage distribution, MCCs, motors, PLCs, and instrumentation.

Competenze

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related).
10+ years in steel, metals, manufacturing, or heavy-industry settings.
Expertise in industrial power distribution (high and low voltage).
Proficiency with MCCs, motors, VFDs, motor controls, PLCs, instrumentation, and industrial automation.
Commissioning, startup, installation support, and field troubleshooting experience.
Ability to interpret drawings, specs, schematics, and vendor documentation.
Experience coordinating contractors, OEMs, consultants, and systems integrators.
Independent field decision-making with strong communication and leadership.
On-site presence required in Apple Grove, West Virginia.

Imagine standing with the team as the first switchgear closes, the MCC hums to life, and production systems begin their first sequences. That’s the moment you’re working toward as the senior electrical leader bringing a brand-new steel mill in Apple Grove, West Virginia from construction through commissioning into steady-state operations.

Your mission

Orchestrate a safe, efficient startup by blending deep power expertise with controls and automation know-how. Coordinate contractors and OEMs, validate designs, solve field problems, and mentor the next generation of engineers while keeping safety, schedule, and quality nonnegotiable.

Impact areas

Installation support, testing, commissioning, and startup for electrical and production equipment.
Technical ownership of high/low voltage distribution including substations, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and motors.
Hands-on troubleshooting across electrical, instrumentation, controls, and equipment integration.
Detailed reviews of electrical drawings, single-lines, schematics, equipment specifications, cable schedules, and vendor submittals.
Contractor, OEM, supplier, and integrator coordination to align deliverables and timelines.
Support for PLC-controlled systems, VFDs, motor controls, instrumentation, and Level 1 automation.
Verification that installations comply with project drawings, specifications, codes, and site standards.
Execution of checkout, loop checks, functional testing, energization, startup, and turnover to operations.
Rapid resolution of field conflicts to maintain commissioning momentum.
Punch-list generation, issue tracking, documentation, and final system acceptance.
Close partnership with operations and maintenance to ensure safety, reliability, and maintainability.
Mentorship of entry-level and early-career engineers; advocate for safe work practices.

Qualifications that fit
