Job summary

The City of El Paso is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of utility and facility projects. The role focuses on plans, specifications, cost estimates, and execution of complex programs in water infrastructure and renewable-energy contexts.

Responsibilities include project management, coordinating with consultants and contractors, supervising staff, preparing reports, and presenting results to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Four (4) years of professional engineering experience in industrial facility systems
• Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Engineer
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience
• Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or transferable with reciprocity

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement electrical engineering projects, plans, and specifications for utility and facility systems.
• Manage complex electrical engineering programs, including energy from renewable sources such as wind, solar, or biofuels.
• Prepare engineering calculations, plans, and specifications; ensure quality control and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and City departments; review submittals and change orders.
• Oversee construction inspections, commissioning, and contract management.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and cost estimates; monitor funding and project progress.
• Supervise assigned staff; provide training and performance evaluations.
• Engage in community outreach and provide technical briefings to stakeholders.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

Texas Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license
