Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR in Chicago, IL seeks an experienced Project Engineer (Electrical) to lead the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical power, lighting, and fire alarm systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. You will mentor junior staff and ensure compliance with NEC and building codes.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license, 5–7 years of consulting experience, and proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical design software.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (electrical emphasis).
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) is required.
5–7 years of consulting engineering experience.
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and electrical design software.
Strong knowledge of NEC and general building codes.

Responsibilities

Establish design criteria, scope, deliverables, and budgets for assigned projects.
Lead design and detailing of electrical engineering systems (power, lighting, fire alarm).
Prepare construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
Perform calculations for accuracy and code compliance.
Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure integrated project delivery.
Conduct field surveys, prepare reports, and support construction administration activities.
Review shop drawings and submittals for contract compliance.
Mentor designers and engineers; ensure NEC/building code compliance.
