Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team on a major Mayo Clinic healthcare facility project in Minnesota. You will lead electrical system design for building construction, contribute to design goals, and guide team members on drawings and specifications.

You will participate in or lead project planning, client communications, and engineering meetings, with responsibilities including scope, budget, and quality control.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of related electrical engineering experience.
  • Current PE license in the United States.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes.
  • Ability to work independently in electrical disciplines with minimal guidance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a critical thinker and highly analytical.
  • Able to engage effectively with clients.
  • Fully qualified professional with latitude and some ambiguity in work.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience using engineering design software such as Revit, AGI32, Visual, SKM Power Tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical engineering systems design for building construction and initiate project designs.
  • Lead or participate in project teamwork planning sessions.
  • Possibly serve as project manager or engineering lead and lead meetings.
  • Assume project engineering responsibilities and meet financial/work goals.
  • Design lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications and/or telecom systems.
  • Prepare construction documents and guide junior staff in drawings.
  • Complete quality control checks of engineering documents.
  • Contribute to value engineering sessions with the A/E team.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs and change orders.
  • Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe progress.
  • Travel as required for project needs and client meetings.
