About the Role

Our client, a prominent civil engineering and infrastructure development firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Project Engineer to manage and deliver key electrical infrastructure projects in Welkom and surrounding areas. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in leading complex electrical projects from conception through to completion. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, adhering to all safety and regulatory requirements. This is a critical position within our growing infrastructure division, offering the chance to make a significant impact on regional development. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, project management, and technical expertise in electrical engineering applicable to infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of electrical infrastructure projects, including substations, distribution networks, and renewable energy installations.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and timelines, and manage resources effectively.
• Oversee the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases of projects.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations in South Africa .
• Manage project risks, identify potential issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth project progress.
• Conduct site inspections and progress monitoring to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
• Prepare comprehensive project reports, including progress updates, financial summaries, and close-out documentation.
• Mentor and guide junior project engineers and site personnel.
• Ensure effective communication and collaboration among all project stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical project engineering, with a strong focus on infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale electrical projects from initiation to closure.
• Solid understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
• Proficiency in electrical design principles and relevant software.
• Knowledge of South African electrical standards, building codes, and environmental regulations.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong financial acumen and experience in managing project budgets.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.Willingness to travel to various project sites as needed.
