Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join our Electrical team in Albany, NY; Rochester, NY; Syracuse, NY, or Buffalo, NY!

We provide a full range of electrical engineering services, from load analysis to the development of complex electrical systems, with an emphasis on green building design. Our experienced electrical engineers work on projects including power generation & distribution, lighting systems, fire alarms, security, and access control systems.

We partner with clients to develop solutions that improve functionality and performance in buildings. Our competencies include voltage classes from 120V to 765kV, generating plant and substation design, equipment upgrades, relay and protection upgrades, ARC Flash studies, renewable design and interconnection, distribution system upgrades, water wastewater system designs, and building electrical upgrades.

Responsibilities

• Assist in applying electrical engineering principles to architectural projects, including power systems, lighting, generators, and campus infrastructure.
• Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques and procedures, ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.
• Participate in design development and create electrical specification packages.
• Verify that all design aspects meet local codes and standards.
• Assist in preparing project proposals, client presentations, and attend meetings.
• Perform field inspections, measurements, calculations, and documentation.
• Conduct research related to materials, feasibility, and restrictions.
• Propose new ideas and stay informed of developments in the field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 8+ years of electrical (architectural) design experience, particularly in industrial projects.
• Electrical PE license is a plus but not required.
• Proficiency in AGI Lighting Software and REVIT preferred.
• Passion for power and lighting design, power system studies, and low & medium Voltage design.
• Experience with CAD.
• Ability to research code provisions, products, and materials.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with clients, project managers, and teams.
• Willingness to mentor junior staff and interns.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in English communication.

Compensation: $100,500 to $119,500 per year (depending on qualifications)
