Job summary

The Virginia Spaceport Authority in Wallops Island, VA, seeks an Electrical Design Engineer III to design, analyze, and support power infrastructure for spaceport facilities, including ground support, cryogenic systems, and mission critical equipment.

You will lead electrical design efforts, perform power studies, select equipment, ensure code compliance (NEC/NFPA), and coordinate with Operations, Safety, and Maintenance through design reviews, testing, and activation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 5–7 years of design engineering experience in power systems preferred.
• Experience with NEC/NFPA 70/70E/780 and related codes required for aerospace facilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update detailed designs of electrical systems for spaceport infrastructure, including power distribution and lighting.
• Perform power system studies: load, voltage drop, short circuit, and coordination analyses.
• Specify and select electrical equipment for power distribution and related systems.
• Provide guidance during design reviews, installation, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
• Ensure designs meet codes, standards, and safety requirements; coordinate with stakeholders across disciplines.
