Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Denver is seeking a Senior EIC Engineer to lead electrical and I&C design across Oil & Gas and Utility sectors. You will guide multi-disciplinary teams, review vendor submittals, and mentor junior engineers throughout all project phases.

The role emphasizes hands-on design, client interaction, and opportunities for increased leadership and project responsibility. Strong ABET-accredited degree and PE preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 7 years electrical engineering experience.
• EPC project experience preferred.
• Master Degree can substitute as 1 year of relevant experience.
• Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of electrical equipment design ANSI and IEEE Standards. Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem‑solving environment.
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
• Ability to travel.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License Preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead development and review of electrical drawing packages, including diagrams, plans, layouts, schedules and interconnections.
• Oversee I&C design packages, including instrument lists, I/O lists, loop/ladder diagrams and panel BOMs.
• Guide P&ID development with process and mechanical teams.
• Mentor I&C team members on panel design and control strategy implementation.
• Support FAT/SAT documentation and field integration planning.
• Lead QA/QC reviews and maintain design standards and templates.
