Job summary

IB Abel is seeking an experienced Electrical Senior Estimator for the Substation Services division to lead the estimating group through the full lifecycle, ensuring detailed and accurate estimates, and supporting post-bid customer requirements.

The role requires 10+ years in electrical cost estimating, GMP estimates experience, and proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, Excel, and Word. Travel across the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast is expected; Pennsylvania locality is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related experience in electrical construction estimating.
• Ten or more years performing cost estimating for the electrical industry.
• Five or more years’ experience on GMP estimates.
• Knowledge of substation construction practices with familiarity of large substation projects.
• Design-build estimating experience.
• Ability to travel across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
• Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) and NFPA 70E.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, Primavera P6 and MS Project.
• Local to Pennsylvania preferred, with occasional travel to other offices and sites.

Responsibilities

• Estimate execution and bid preparation from contract documents; perform material take-off; obtain quotes; participate in estimate reviews; input customer deliverables.
• Manage bid administration and documentation; upload project documents; submit RFIs; prepare award documents; ensure pre-construction planning and document distribution.
• Review purchase orders, subcontracts, and contracts for accuracy; identify key milestones and potential change orders; align estimate assumptions with project execution.
• Mentor Associate Estimators; peer-check regional estimates and lead bid reviews; develop high-quality RFP deliverables.
• Assist construction personnel at project startup; attend pre-construction meetings; relay cost estimate insights to PM team.
