Job summary

Gpac is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator through a local electrical contractor in the Chicago area. The role focuses on leading the estimating process for large-scale commercial, industrial, and institutional electrical projects, with emphasis on thorough take-offs and competitive bids.

The position requires extensive experience with electrical estimating, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven ability to manage cost control and collaboration across project teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years electrical estimating experience with an electrical contractor.
• Proven ability to lead estimating for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.
• Proficient in takingoffs and cost estimation accuracy.
• Strong interpretation of blueprints, specs, and contracts.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Stable work history and prior leadership/senior estimating experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the estimating process for large-scale electrical projects.
• Review drawings and specs to develop competitive bids.
• Perform detailed take-offs for material and labor costs.
• Collaborate with PMs, engineers, and field teams for execution.
• Analyze historical data and supplier pricing to improve estimates.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks to verify conditions.
• Build relationships with vendors, subs, and clients for pricing.
• Oversee junior estimators and provide guidance.
• Identify value engineering opportunities to reduce costs.
• Ensure estimates comply with company standards and contracts.
