Cummings Electrical, an established electrical contractor, seeks an experienced Electrical Estimator in Houston, TX. The role involves analyzing plans, preparing estimates, and coordinating with clients and vendors to ensure competitive bids.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in commercial/industrial projects, NEC knowledge, and proficiency with Accubid and AutoCAD. This on-site position offers growth and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus Electrical Apprenticeship or related degree.
• Minimum 4+ years’ experience in commercial, industrial and service projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC and local codes.
• Experience with Accubid and AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook; strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and evaluates project plans, bid documents, and other documents to identify bid needs.
• Calculates the cost of electrical construction based on documents and site conditions.
• Consults with clients, vendors, and other departments to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
• Attends job site walk-throughs to address field conditions affecting bids or pre-construction designs.
• Prepares bid documents with scope letters, buy-out adjustments, labor rate, productivity, etc.
• Provides accurate, detailed, and competitive estimates.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and evaluates project plans and specifications, bid documents, and other relevant documents to identify what is needed to create a bid proposal
• Calculates the cost of electrical construction based on reviewing and evaluating available documents and/or site conditions
• Consults with clients, vendors, and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
• Attends job site walk-throughs with other estimators as necessary to ensure that any field conditions that may potentially affect or impact the construction, prospective bid or pre-construction designs are properly handled
• Prepares bid documents including specific scope letter for each project, evaluations with adjustments for buy-outs, labor rate, productivity, etc. and identifies any inconsistent issues, conflicts, and other problems
• Able to provide accurate, detailed, and competitive estimates
  
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, combined with completion of an Electrical Apprenticeship Program and field experience, or a bachelor’s degree in construction management or similar studies
• Minimum 4+ years’ relevant experience related to commercial, industrial and “service” projects
• Accustomed to estimating projects at varied price ranges
• Thorough knowledge of the electrical field with familiarity in materials and construction methods
• Knowledgeable of the N.E.C and local codes
• Proficient with MS Suite & Outlook and experience utilizing Accubid and AutoCAD
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
