Job summary

VERUS in Reno, NV is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineering Lead to mentor the local team and drive cross-functional project management across utility, industrial, and commercial markets. The role blends strong technical leadership with hands-on design of LV/MV power and control systems and close coordination with central management.

The ideal candidate has 8–10 years in electrical engineering, 2–3 years in leadership, and proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering.
• 2–3 years of leadership/mentoring experience in an office setting.
• Ability to manage projects from scope to delivery, including cost tracking and schedules.
• Professional licensure: California license or ability to obtain by comity; EIT/FE preferred.
• Solid drafting and engineering document development background using AutoCAD or MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee daily workflow for staff in the Reno office; ensure accountability and professional growth.
• Function as project manager for internal and cross-functional initiatives, tracking budgets and timelines.
• Lead cross-office collaboration between Reno and central management for high-quality project execution; client-facing senior electrical engineer on utility, industrial, and commercial projects.
• Design and engineering of low- and medium-voltage power distribution, lighting, and related electrical systems.
• Coordinate electrical and controls work packages, including diagrams, plans, BOMs, and hazard classifications; manage deadlines and adapt to changing needs.
• Provide mentorship and career development for engineering team members; engage in field activities such as surveys and commissioning.
